Abstract
Three-dimensional ultrasonography been increasingly used by health care professionals as it provides some improvements, particularly regarding acquisition, training, and display modes. Considering the latter, tridimensional cine (3D cine) improves better depth perception; teal time three-dimensional ultrasound (4D) provides three-dimensional movement view at real time; tomography ultrasound image (TUI) permits displaying several parallel planes in only one image; volume contrasting imaging (VCI) improves image contrast and decreases artifacts between tissues; Omniview rectifies curvilinear structures to be viewed at the same plane; Sonographybased Volume Computer Aided Display (SonoVCAD) minimizes operator dependence by standardization of image acquisition; and spatio-temporal image correlation (STIC) allows 3D acquisition of moving structures through a post processing volume set. In this chapter we will briefly summarize all these imaging modalities.
