Abstract
Soluble fibers are more effective for the management of diabetes, obesity,
dyslipidemia, hypertension, and different cancers when compared with insoluble fibers.
The ingestion of foods with a low glycaemic index is a helpful alternative in
controlling diabetes. The hypocholesterolemic and hypoglycemic effects of β-glucan
are due to its high viscosity and high molecular weight. For this reason, β-glucan is
chosen by the food industry to manufacture various types of functional foods. β-
glucans, which are also having form as Oat β-glucan (OβG), including primarily of the
linear polysaccharide (1→ 3), (1→ 4)-β-D-glucan is a vital food supplement for
achieving insulin responses and decreasing postprandial glucose. Also, β-glucans
accelerate wound healing and prevent ischemic heart injury disease. Dose,
physicochemical properties, and processing techniques are important factors in
controlling glycaemia by emerging the effects of β-glucans.
